How Long Does Skydiving Last?

If savoring every last drop of a sunset, every last sip of your favorite flavored coffee or every moment with friends and family is your thing, then we get why you want to know how long does skydiving last. We're here to share all the details on how long it takes for the skydiving experience from showing up at the dropzone, to how long do you freefall, and all the details in between before driving home.

How Long Does it Take to Skydive?

This is important. We know you have busy schedules and want to maximize your time. So here's the deal. Every day is different and we do our best to mitigate wait times. However, we generally ask that you plan on spending half of your day with us (at least 4-6 hours) for the entire skydiving experience.

Skydiving is usually an unpredictable sport as there are so many variables that we do not have control over. The first is if everyone arrives on time or not. If everyone is on point, that helps us plan for the rest of the day. The time you book is the time we ask you to check-in. You may want to plan to arrive 10-15 minutes early of your booking time to have time to park, use the restroom, and find where to check-in.

Next is the timing of the aircraft. There are days we are all on schedule, and there are other days we add a little extra time for fueling the plane, boarding the plane, or air traffic control delays. Then there is good ole Mother Nature.

The weather is a big one. Some days are beautiful blue skies but we cannot jump because the winds are too high. Sometimes clouds are low and we don't have enough altitude to jump out, or it's raining, or even turbulent. Fret not dear friends, we monitor the weather like staring at the sunset in hopes of seeing the green flash! If there is questionable weather and you're not sure if we're jumping, one of two things may happen:

1. You can give us a ring and we'll give you an update.

2. We may reschedule you and your deposit will go towards a new jump date.

Skydiving Freefall Time

Oh yes, my friends! The ultimate question on how long do you freefall while skydiving! Here at Skydive Cincinnati, we jump from 10,000 feet above the ground (which is about 2 miles up) that allows for an extraordinary 50 seconds of freefall and approximately 5-7 amazing minutes under the parachute to float back to earth.

Yes, 50 seconds doesn't seem like long skydiving freefall time. That's pretty much why so many of us get hooked on the sport because it's a feeling we chase. Then it becomes about mastering skills not just how long do you freefall when skydiving.
